Hot Sauce and Aspirin

Some tips and tricks to survive a hangover.

Just in time for St Patrick’s day weekend, I bring you….another thing I tried that worked pretty well! Last weekend I went out to West Texas to visit my BFF all the way back to my college days. There is a theory about West Texas, that people drink a lot because there is nothing else to do. It’s funny though, people say everyone in Austin drinks a lot because there is so much to do but it was all built around drinking. So, I think, people just like to drink. Either way, we were in West Texas, for what we were lovingly referring to as “Mini Shenanigans”, because Randall, the BFF’s spouse had to work the next morning. Mini turned maxi, and we ended up playing disc golf, going to a bar, then back home to play Joking Hazard, which is hilarious and you should buy it. Along with the more relevant to this blog and super fun, “Sobriety Test”. As we had a 5 hour drive ahead of us the next day, I was putting a LOT of eggs in the hangover cure basket. I decided on a little drink called “Never Too Hungover”. I bought mine at Specs, but you can order it from Amazon too. Much like Thrive+ which I had some success with, it contains the B vitamins and milk thistle. You drink the tiny bottle before you start drinking or while drinking, and that’s it. Much easier than mixing things, or drinking 16 ounces of water with a bunch of pills, then mixing powder into another 16 ounces. It’s just 3 ounces, and done. It is not delicious, but it’s drinkable. (I held my nose like a petulant child and chugged it.) I drank mine after the first 3 beers, but before the bar and drinking games. We went to sleep around 1:30, and I woke up around 12:30, but it was after the time change so really 11:30. The fact that I could sleep for so long is already a testament to the product. I didn’t wake up feeling sick in the middle of the night. By the time I got up the next day, I was thirsty but not sick at all. The best part was the no headache. That’s one thing all of these products have had in common, walking up headache free. I didn’t feel like I hadn’t had any drinks the night before. But I felt like I could function, I wasn’t going to throw up and my head was fine. This weekend we have a giant weekend planned. I’m using this again Saturday night. Tomorrow morning though, I’ll be checking out a new product, Blowfish. Check back with me next week, when I have my office back, it’s currently pulling OT as a guest room for spring break. I’ll have links, pictures, and more hope for you drunkies! Be careful this weekend and if you are going out, use a ride share or cab. Or if you live somewhere cooler than Austin, take a train.
